Paper Gets Recycled

80% of 81/2" x 11" sheets of paper find their way into a trash can within 2 hours of when they were printed.

Where will your waste paper be at noon tomorrow? Creating jobs or on its way to a landfill? The choice is yours. Recycle clean paper and cardboard.

Many people don't believe that the paper they put into the recycling bin actually gets recycled. Almost half of New York City's residential recycled paper is recycled at Pratt Industries in Staten Island.

In New York City you can recycle any clean paper and cardboard including envelopes and boxes with cellophane or plastic windows.

Organic material is a contaminant in paper recycling. These can be composted, but do not recycle papers that you eat or clean with such as paper plates, cups, napkins, tissues, towels, and wipes or hard cover books or photographs.
